Calhoun County man is accused of poisoning his mother

A Calhoun County man accused of poisoning his mother and attempting to burn her house down is facing felony charges. Jody Satterfield of Grantsville, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and attempted arson. His mother told investigators she had been drugged after her son offered her coffee and she lost consciousness. A criminal complaint filed in Calhoun County Magistrate Court said on a second occasion, the mother awoke to a house smelling overwhelmingly of natural gas. Investigators reported the home’s natural gas supply had increased noticeably when compared to years past even though Satterfield had only been living with his mother for three months. Satterfield is accused of stealing his mother’s bank cards, vehicle and her gun, a .38 special.
