Companies owned by Governor Justice and his family are disputing a federal lawsuit over unpaid surface mine penalties. Federal officials cited the Justice companies with more than 130 violations. The companies have failed to pay required Abandoned Mine Land fees and owe seven-point-six-million-dollars in fees and penalties. The Justice companies want all the claims dismissed.
