A Boone County woman told Eyewitness News she hasn’t had internet or phone service for a month because copper thieves stole phone wires near her house.
Three people have been charged with the theft since then, and according to the criminal complaint, the total cost of material and labor lost is about $14,000. Hundreds of residents were without service for 10 days. Most of the thefts happened along Prenter Road and contractors have begun making the poles taller to deter thieves. Eyewitness News asked Frontier about the issue and a spokesperson said they’re looking into it.
