A “hospital within a hospital” is set to move into Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial this month. Select Specialty Hospital – Charleston will operate 32 beds on the third floor of the hospital aimed at providing long-term acute care. The “hospital within a hospital” will be owned and operated by Select Medical and will provide specialized long-term care for patients who may need ongoing care or treatment for issues such as pulmonary, neurological or cardiac conditions. Patients are expected to begin being admitted during the week of Aug. 15.
