Boone Memorial Hospital earned the gold Donate Life award from Donate Life West Virginia for its efforts in educating the community about organ donation and encouraging people to become donors. Eyewitness News said more than 500 West Virginians are currently waiting for an organ transplant. Boone Memorial Hospital has been trying to lower that number by raising awareness about organ donation. In order to receive the gold Donate Life award, the hospital had to complete several initiatives on a score card. The staff held several events.
