The Cabell County school board last night voted unanimously to approve funding cuts. Last night’s meeting went for almost five hours, and so many people attended, the meeting moved to the auditorium to accommodate the crowd. The cuts would affect the library system and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District. WSAZ says superintendent Ryan Saze said the financial troubles stem from declining enrollment, a loss of federal COVID 19 funds, and inflation. Funding for the park district would be cut from $500,000 to zero. Funding for public libraries would drop from $1.4 million to $195,000.
