Eight teaching associate professors at West Virginia University’s Chambers College will not have their contracts renewed. The cuts are not part of the ongoing academic transformation program review. In an email obtained by Eyewitness News, the Dean of John Chambers College of Business and Economics said he was tasked to free up an additional $1 million from the Chambers College budget beginning July 1, 2024. This comes just one week after WVU’s board of governors approved a final list of recommendations to remove 28 majors and more than 100 faculty members. A West Virginia University spokesperson released a statement saying the cuts within Chambers College were made to address the overall structural budget deficit.
