Boone County residents raise concerns over access road

For five days in August, 20 people who live along Lick Creek Branch Road in the Van area of Boone County were stuck after the only road leading in was destroyed by high water. Since the August floods, a temporary access road has has been put in, but Eyewitness News reported the concern now from neighbors is that their access out will be based on the ebb and flow of the creek that the road now dips into. A gravel access road that runs through the creek was put in a week later by the West Virginia Division of Highways concerns have been raised over its reliability, especially during the winter.
