Watch out for another phone scam. According to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, a victim was recently threatened by a caller saying they would act on an outstanding warrant if they failed to send the caller a certain amount of money. The victim disconnected before being scammed. Deputies said the number showed up from the “Alum Creek” area on caller ID. The number was later determined by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office to be untraceable or “spoofed.” Deputies said do not hesitate to call the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office at 304-357-0169 if you are suspicious you may be getting scammed.
