Drivers on the Kanawha Turnpike may see delays

A portion of the Kanawha Turnpike will be closed between Union Carbide Drive and Jefferson Road for road work. Crews will be pouring concrete on a new bridge deck from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday. The project will also include replacing a congested dogleg intersection and a rail crossing at the intersection of Kanawha Turnpike and Jefferson Road with a new bridge and roundabout. Once complete, the Jefferson Road widening project will work in conjunction with a new half-mile connector road to link Jefferson Road with RHL Boulevard. The project is expected to add more road access to the Trace Fork Shopping Center and allow direct access to Jefferson Road, alleviating congestion on both Jefferson Road and Corridor G.
