A former Kanawha County magistrate has been appointed to fill the vacant West Virginia House of Delegates seat left by Doug Skaff. Hollis Lewis, a Democrat and native of Charleston’s West Side, will represent House District 57 in Kanawha County, according to a news release from Gov. Jim Justice’s office. Since returning to Charleston in 2013, Lewis has held several positions, including Kanawha County magistrate and adjunct professor at West Virginia State University. Lewis fills a spot left by Skaff, who resigned from the position earlier this month to focus on his family and business ventures.
