People who live in Huntington are taking part in a comprehensive 10-year plan. The city holds public input meetings and online surveys to see what’s needed for the future. Eyewitness News said so far, housing and sustaining economic growth are at the top of the list. The 10-year plan includes getting the federal government to help with a flood prevention plan outside of city limits in the county. Mayor Steve Williams says the city already dug out millions of pounds of debris to help in the meantime. Online surveys have brought up concerns too about the Hal Greer Boulevard construction project creating congested traffic. Mayor Williams said it will be worth it next year when they cut the ribbon. The city also bought the old A.C.F. property, home of a rail car manufacturing plant. the plan is to turn it into an industrial park and offer hundreds of jobs. There will be at least one more open house and an additional online survey. The final draft of the 10-year plan is expected to be completed in mid 2024.
