A man who was shot and killed by deputies in Kanawha County after deputies said he fired shots at them while they were trying to arrest him was previously convicted of attempted murder of a police officer. Brian Spencer of Sissonville was wanted on charges out of Logan County when he was shot on Saturday near the Rodeway Inn in Cross Lanes. In Jan. 2015, Spencer was arrested after deputies said he rammed a police cruiser head-on following an argument with a family member on Falcon Drive. Cpl. A.J. Miller suffered minor injuries in the collision. Deputies said they were attempting to take Spencer in custody on an active arrest warrant on Saturday when he fired at them from his vehicle. Detectives said they are still examining physical evidence and attempting to locate potential witnesses to the incident.
