Prison escapee appears in court to face new charges

The convicted killer who escaped a Pennsylvania prison and was on the run for two weeks appeared before a district judge on Wednesday morning. Danilo Cavalcante was charged with escaping prison after making his way out of the Chester County Prison by crab walking between two walls on August 31. Cavalcante eluded police for 14 days, surviving on stolen watermelons and stream water. He was taken into custody on September 13 with help from multiple agencies, including police K-9 Yoda, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois from the El Paso Border Patrol Tactical Team. He’s still facing trial for the murder of 20-year-old Valter JĂșnior Moreira dos Reis. The case is expected to go to a jury in October.
