Program brings more teacher’s aides to classrooms

West Virginia has taken new steps to help elementary schools acquire more teachers’ aides. The Third Grade Success Act is a three-year plan passed by the Legislature, building on aides already in preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Eyewitness News said one of the schools to receive more teachers’ aides, is Kanawha City Elementary, and that’s having a positive impact in the classroom. In Kanawha County alone, 86 aide positions have been filled for this school year. That will expand next year in schools, with aides placed in first and second grade classrooms. The following year, they will be in third grade rooms.
