West Virginia’s very first female United States Senator is supporting the next generation of women leaders with her initiative, ‘Girls Rise Up’. Shelley Moore Capito has been holding events at schools since 2015 and recently brought the program to Sissonville Middle School to encourage girls run for offices when they grow up. Supreme Court Justice Haley Bunn was there as well. The initiative looks to encourage young women with three steps: education, confidence, and wellness.
