Kanawha County Commissioners have voted to demolish a fire station. Damage from flooding in late August was the final straw in making the old fire station unusable. The Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department Winifred Station will be torn down, even though there are concerns about response times with one less fire station in in area. The demolition will cost $10,000. A new fire station will be built in the future.
