Rob Alsop, the WVU vice president of strategic affairs, presented proposed cuts to state lawmakers this week. WVU President Gordon Gee had a “personal matter,” according to Alsop, and could not make it. Del. Larry Rowe, of Kanawha, asked Alsop about a search for the next president. Alsop said once Gee’s newly-extended contract is up in 2025, he expects the board will begin a nationwide search to find the next president. The WVU Board of Governors is set to meet on Friday at 9:30 a.m. to vote on the program cuts.
