Airport program helps travelers with disabilities

The busy holiday season is just around the corner, and West Virginia International Yeager Airport has a program that can help people with disabilities. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program first began in 2016 in England. The West Virginia International Yeager Airport began participating in 2021. If someone has a hidden disability, they can grab a sunflower lanyard for free from the welcome counter. Then, airport staff will know that people wearing the lanyard may need extra time when going through security or navigating the airport. The airport also works with several therapy dogs through the program Herc’s Pals.
