Former DHHR supervisor pleads not guilty in COVID fraud investigation

A West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources supervisor who was indicted on charges in a federal COVID-19 test fraud investigation pleaded not guilty. Timothy Priddy is accused of making false statements during an investigation to determine if vendors providing COVID tests to West Virginia were overbilled or fraudulently received payments from federal funds distributed through the DHHR. Priddy has been accused of certifying 13 invoices totaling more than $34 million without verifying their accuracy. Priddy was released on a $10,000 bond after the not guilty plea. A pretrial hearing in the case is set for Nov. 30 and a trial date is scheduled for Dec. 19.
