Huntington city officials announced Monday a domestic violence shelter has received $10,000 in American Rescue Plan Act money. District 9 city councilwoman Ally Layman presented the Branches Domestic Violence Shelter with funding to help the facility continue assisting victims. The city of Huntington said in a news release that it received more than $40,000 in APRA funds in 2021 to help communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Branches was established as a non-profit agency in 1980 and now provides emergency shelter, legal assistance, counseling and case management for clients in Cabell, Lincoln, Mason, Putnam and Wayne counties.
