WVU works to keep dental program graduates in West Virginia

The West Virginia University School of Dentistry wants to see an increase in practitioners choosing to stay in the Mountain State following graduation. The number of WVU graduates deciding to start their career in West Virginia more than doubled from 19% to 41% with the Class of 2023. West Virginia has a shortage of dentists and WVU connects students with initiatives to help with retention. The school requires a rural rotation experience and offers a career fair. Students also complete community service projects with focus on rural and underserved populations.
