Cable thefts in West Virginia are higher than several other states. Frontier Communications officials told the West Virginia Public Service Commission at a meeting Wednesday that wire thefts in West Virginia were higher than the 25 other states Frontier serves. The company was seeking stiffer penalties in West Virginia’s state law. The hearing comes after phone service was knocked in numerous counties Tuesday after Frontier officials said fiber optic lines experienced two cuts in northern West Virginia, one involving copper vandalism and the other due to damage related to a winter storm.
