A new class-action lawsuit has been filed regarding a gas outage on Charleston’s West Side. The new lawsuit, filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court, is proactively seeking the court to stop Mountaineer Gas and West Virginia American Water from raising rates to pay for the fix. The lawsuit comes as several hundred customers have been without gas service for nearly a week after a water leak infiltrated gas lines on the West Side, officials said. The incident resulted in the lines having to be pumped clean before service could be restored. The outage is expected to last as much as 10 days for some residents.
