Former Chapmanville police officer Marcus Dudley faced charges stemming from the disappearance of his K-9, Chase, and pleaded not guilty in August. Then last month, a tentative plea agreement was reached and he pleaded guilty to making false statements, obstruction and animal cruelty. Late last week, Dudley was sentenced to six months in prison but will be out in two weeks for time served. He also has to pay $6,000 to Chapmanville and $522 to South Charleston, as well as completing an anger management course. Dudley said he left Chase unattended for a day to a day and a half. No one knows what happened to the K-9.
