West Virginia American Water acquires struggling Boone-Raleigh PSD

Following months of review from the state’s Public Service Commission, West Virginia American Water has acquired the Boone-Raleigh Public Service District.
The wastewater system serves about 380 customers along Route 3 in Boone and Raleigh counties and has recently experienced a decline in service, according to a news release from West Virginia American Water. The news release said “substantial upgrades and infrastructure replacement” is needed to comply with statutory and regulatory system requirements. The water company reports it will extend employment opportunities to all current PSD employees and take on debts accumulated by the system.
