Former electric workers’ union secretary admits to embezzling funds

A Cross Lanes man was sentenced to three years of probation after he admitted to embezzling labor union funds. 41-year old Gary F. Fridley II admitted to embezzling more than $19,700 while serving as financial secretary for union workers employed by American Electric Power, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia. Fridley was accused of forging the signature of other union officials and cashing checks between December 2018 and June 2019. In addition to the probation, Fridley was ordered to pay $19,732 in restitution.
