Putnam County Sheriff Bobby Eggleton is concerned about traffic issues on the interstate at the Nitro. Eggleton told Eyewitness News that traffic on I-64 backs up every day between 4 and 7, and a main reason is tractor trailer traffic trying to get in and out of the Pilot Travel Center off of Exit 45 in Nitro. The sheriff told Eyewitness News he reached out to the Pilot Flying J company two months ago and said he hasn’t heard back. Eyewitness News asked Sheriff Eggleton if the construction has played a factor in the problem he said has led to increased traffic and crashes and he said no. Options are being weighed now for possible solutions.
