U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin promises no layoffs at the South Charleston post office hub

Sen. Joe Manchin pledges hundreds of employees will remain employed at a United States Postal Service processing and distribution facility in Kanawha County that is under review for consolidation. A South Charleston plant that employs about 800 people is under review by the USPS and faces consolidation with facilities in Pennsylvania, according to a postal worker’s union. Saturday, Manchin outlined a “productive” call with Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, pushing for improvements to modernize the West Virginia facility. Manchin has urged West Virginians to submit comments to the USPS opposing consolidation efforts.
