Deputies said a Fayette County woman is facing a felony after utility workers found a toddler alone on a roadway covered in snow. 31-year old Mackenzie Ewing of Pax, has been charged with gross child neglect creating a risk of substantial injury or death, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. The boy was found about 10:30 a.m. Friday without shoes or a jacket. Deputies said workers had difficulty finding the child’s home as his footprints had been covered in snow. Child Protective Services have taken custody of the boy, and Ewing is being held without bond at Southern Regional Jail to await court proceedings.
