Dangerous curve on Sissonville Drive needs a guardrail

Sissonville Drive is lined with various sections of guardrail, but at the curve in the 7400 block, the guardrail ends before one of the most dangerous curves on the roadway. Last week, an woman died in a single-vehicle crash after she went down the embankment. Not long after that Del. Dana Ferrell of Kanawha said he was contacted by the owner of the garage at the curve asking to put a guardrail there as the spot has been an issue for decades with crashes. Del. Ferrell said he has contacted engineers from the West Virginia Division of Highways. According to District 1 Manager Scott Eplin, there are state and federal guidelines that must be met before the installation of guardrails. Said Eplin,” WVDOH traffic engineers will study crash data, traffic counts and other information along Sissonville Drive to determine the best course of action, adding. “WVDOH takes the safety of travelers on our highways very seriously”.
