More details have been released on a crash that killed a child Monday in Kanawha County. Deputies said a pickup truck was traveling on Church Road toward North Pinch Road when it struck a guardrail at the intersection, causing it to overturn and roll down a hill, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. A 10-year-old girl died in the crash, deputies said. A 13-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. Investigators said speed and faulty equipment are believed to have played a role in the incident, as well as the guardrail failing to support the vehicle after impact. Road crews responded to the scene to inspect the guardrail. The incident remains under investigation by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
