The third Inclusion on Ice event takes place Sunday, Feb. 11 at the Wheeling Park Ice Rink. This event, a joint effort between the Augusta Levy Learning Center, Easterseals Rehabilitation Center, and the Wheeling Nailers, introduces people with physical and mental disabilities to ice skating. Participants will use special equipment to skate, such as wheelchairs, walkers, and sleds, available from noon to 2 p.m. At 2 pm, a sled hockey game featuring the Wheeling Nailers and Wheeling Lightningbirds playing against, the Mighty Penguins Sled Hockey team from Pittsburgh. Watching the match can inspire people and show them that physical disabilities do not limit the ability to participate in sports. It also gives parents an idea of what sports options are available for their children with disabilities.
