According to WCHS, Former Secretary of State Natalie Tennant has announced her plans to run for the Kanawha County Commission. Tennant stated in a news release “It is no secret I love public service, but it was a group of women who approached me and asked me about running for county commission,”. “They said they wanted unique ideas and a woman’s perspective since there has never been a woman commissioner in Kanawha County.” Since her eight-year term at the state level, Tennant has run a consulting and public speaking company. Tennant will be running against longtime commissioner Kent Carper, who has filed for reelection to a seat he has held for nearly thirty years..
