The trial is underway for a man accused of wounding two Cabell County Sheriff’s Deputies in 2019. Michael Pinkerman of Ona is charged with attempted murder. Court records show he braced himself against the door of the house and would not let officers serve the search warrant. The door was eventually forced open. There was gunfire inside. Corporal Jim Johnston and Deputy Jared Cremeans were struck multiple times, and were wearing their bullet proof vests at the time and survived. Prosecutors say the handgun in question had been reported stolen in Arizona, Washington State and West Virginia.
