A man accused of sexually abusing children at a vacation Bible school in Kanawha City pleaded guilty Monday. Rhett Bowen of Charleston pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Police said Bowen was charged with first-degree sexual abuse following an incident that occurred at the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School in 2017 where he was a volunteer. Following his 2019 arrest, investigators said additional victims came forward, telling police Bowen had made sexual contact with them. Sentencing in the case is scheduled for April 8.
