Kanawha County dispatchers said a deputy was shot in the hand following a pursuit early Thursday morning. It started on Walker Dr. in Sissonville around 1:10 a.m. Eyewitness News reported that the pursuit only lasted a short time and the car stopped in the Applewood Circle area. They said shots were fired and the deputy was hit in the hand. The suspect then took off and other deputies began searching the area. The male was found a short time later near a cemetery. A female believed to be in the car with the male got away from the scene. The deputy was taken to the hospital and will be okay.
