The doors are now open to two FEMA disaster recovery centers in Eastern Kanawha County – one of the hardest hit areas in the August flooding of last year.
This coming after a presidential disaster declaration was declared for the widespread 2023 flooding in Kanawha, Boone, Calhoun, Harrison and Clay counties. One of the centers is open at the Belle Town Hall (1100 E. Dupont Ave.) and the other is open at the Penn VA Coal Carbon Center (13905 MacCorkle Ave) from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The center gives people impacted by the flooding the chance to apply for assistance, ask questions and get guidance on the various financial assistance programs FEMA offers.
Applications for FEMA assistance are due on April 1. SBA application process is open for six months. Aside from the two FEMA recovery centers, SBA has a center open at the Charleston Area Alliance (1116 Smith St.).
