Illegal dump sites in Kentucky are being cleaned up

Illegal dump sites across Kentucky are getting cleaned up, thanks to a $1 million grant. Sixteen counties are dividing up the money and nine of those are in Eastern Kentucky. Eyewitness News said the illegal trash site in Lawrence County spans nearly a mile. The discarded items along the road over the hillside include appliances, furniture, tires and a variety of trash. The county is getting $18,000 from the state to clean up the area. The site is one of 69 illegal dumps across Kentucky that are part of the cleanup grants. The fine for illegal dumping in Kentucky is $500.
