Two bills introduced in the Kentucky General Assembly would dramatically change the SNAP program, formerly known as food stamps, including implementing a work/work training requirement for benefit recipients. SNAP provides assistance for low-income households and individuals, to help them buy food. House Bill 235 would require most recipients to either be working or undergo mandatory work training. It would apply to those currently enrolled, as well as future applicants. The Kentucky General Assembly is in session through April 15.
