Landslip will keep the Barboursville Target closed a while longer

A popular Cabell County retailer remains closed following a landslip that caused utility issues and structural concerns. Landowners near the Barboursville Target location have received notice of a voluntary evacuation, according to Mayor Chris Tatum. The store closed its doors earlier this month as structural engineers and utility workers were called on to evaluate broken water and sewer lines on the property. A spokesperson for Target told Eyewitness News the store will remain closed for “a prolonged period” as slip has created a potential safety hazard. The cause of the slip remains under investigation and no timetable for the store’s reopening has been made available.
