Macy’s store to be demolished this spring

Plans are in the works to tear down the old Macy’s at the Charleston Town Center this spring so the new Charleston Capital Sports Center can be built in its place. The sports center will feature an aquatic center with an Olympic-sized pool, basektball courts, and pickle ball courts. The complex will also be able to host tournaments and evnts. The project will use five million from the city and five million from the county. Demolition of the old Macy’s store will pave the way for the project, and that will begin in April.
