Shelter needs donations to help with medical treatment for dogs seized in Mason County

Area animal shelters are asking for public assistance after dozens of dogs were retrieved from a Mason County home Wednesday. Nearly 40 animals were rescued and during intake, more than 30 of the dogs tested positive for Parvo, according to a social media post from the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association. The highly-contagious disease attacks the blood and vital organs of K-9s and young pups are at a greater risk to contract the virus. Some puppies were taken to Kanawha County to be placed in a Parvo isolation ward and workers estimate treatment for each animal will total about $700. Anyone interested in making a donation or adopting a furry friend may get additional information online or by calling the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association at 304-342-1576.
