Suspected gang leader is arrested and faces charges in two states

U.S. Marshals have arrested a man from Charleston who they said was wanted in connection with a murder in Connecticut and a drug investigation in West Virginia.
Tyjha Ali Watson was arrested at a home on Ash Street Tuesday morning. Investigators say Watson shot into an apartment building in Waterbury, Connecticut, on June 13th of last year, striking a 49-year-old woman in the head. The victim, identified as Becky Switzer, died at a hospital from her injuries.
Marshals said Watson has been wanted in West Virginia since February 2021 on a federal indictment in connection to a DEA investigation into a drug trafficking organization with ties to the Bloods and Gangster Disciples criminal gangs. Watson will face state charges in Connecticut before facing his federal charges in West Virginia.
