Charleston Area Medical Center held an event this week to celebrate a record number of kidney transplants last year. Doctors at CAMC performed 128 kidney transplants in 2023, and the hospital has been recognized by the scientific registry for recipients for relatively low wait times. It usually takes six to eight months from the time a patient joins the wait list to the time they receive a transplant. The national average wait time is between five and seven years.
