The 2024 West Virginia Vacation Guide includes recommendations from the West Virginia Department of Tourism. Among those, the Boardwalk at Beartown State Park. That’s located in Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties near Droop Mountain and includes a boardwalk that runs through a maze of rock formations and boulders. Castle Rock Trail at New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is another good option, according to the tourism department. It’s in the Grandview area of the New River Gorge National Park and runs alongside several large cliffs. In Charleston, the Dept. of Tourism highlights the Sunrise Carriage Trail that was built in 1905 to carry construction material to the governor’s mansion. The trail links the South Hills neighborhood to the riverfront.
