Driver in a 2022 fatal accident changes plea to guilty

A man accused of driving impaired and killing a mother and her daughter in a 2022 crash in Kanawha County has pleaded guilty. Andrew Wyrick, of Culloden, pleaded guilty Monday morning to driving under the influence causing death in connection with a crash on U.S. 60 near St. Albans in October 2022. A criminal complaint said a truck operated by Wyrick crossed a double yellow line and struck an oncoming sport utility vehicle. Investigators said there was no evidence at the scene to suggest Wyrick attempted to avoid the head-on collision. 73-year old Dotty Lou Haynes and 53-year old Sherri McClanahan were killed. A small child and another adult were seriously injured. Wyrick previously pleaded not guilty to the charges in 2023. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
