Since 2022, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has brought up the conversation of body cameras for their deputies, and now they have introduced the first round of body-worn cameras called Axon. Eyewitness News said Kanawha County is the second agency in West Virginia to have this service. Deputies attended training at the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office this week where they learned the functions and operations of their newly issued body-worn cameras. In total, Kanawha County has 106 deputies, and the new program will take a few months to go into full effect.
