The Charleston City Council approved the new budget this week and it includes an across-the-board pay raise for all employees – including police and fire. The $111.4 million budget maintains all critical City services and operations, according to a news release from the CIty, and it does not include any new taxes or fees. It also maintains funding for paving and building demolition, and creates a fund that will help the city’s athletic fields. The budget will go into effect July 1.
