WV VOAD names new director

West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, which has been rocked by an embezzlement case and questions surrounding its leadership, has a new executive director. Rev. John Lipphardt will serve as interim executive director for WV VOAD. Eyewitness News reported that he is expected to serve in the role until a permanent leader is chosen later this spring. Lipphardt replaces Jenny Gannaway, who retired from the role amid questions over spending and the destination of some donated items intended for disaster victims. The nonprofit provides disaster relief throughout the Mountain State. Lipphardt has served as an Ordained Elder in the West Virginia Conference, The United Methodist Church, and held pastoral positions at Epworth United Methodist Church and Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church.
